A trend seems to be emerging as OC Croat wins the Spring league for the 2nd straight year. Looks like we all need the Fall and Winter seasons to get back in shape after a Summer filled with cevape, janjetine, pive i vina. Oh well, at least we know how to live!

On 6/30/08 OC Croat added a second championship in as many months by defeating Far Post 6-3 in the Spring ‘08 season final to win their first City of Irvine 7v7 league title. Beautiful goals were scored by Tim Kosor, Ivan Vranjes (2), Jurica Balta, Mile Goles and Sean Murphy. OC Croat finished the season with a stellar 8-1-1 record and now can take several months off and enjoy their recent success until the Fall season begins.
Thanks to all of our players who helped make this a season to remember!

The greatest day in OC Croat’s short history took place on Saturday, May 24th 2008 when the team won the “B Division” of the 2nd Annual Croatian Independence Day Small Goals Tournament in San Pedro. OC Croat went an undefeated 6-0 in one day to capture the title, putting a sound beating on Zadar San Pedro 4-0 in the final. Ivan Vranjes, Jurica Balta, Marko Zoretic and Timmy Kosor scored the goals in the final match, and Ivan Buich capped a fantastic day goalkeeping with his 3rd shutout. The other team members were Matija Abicic, Dean Dragoyevich, Dario Andrasek, Mile Goles, Ante Cavka and Mario Bele.

OC Croat families and friends gathered at Marina Hills Park in Laguna Niguel on 3/29/08 for some bocce, basketball, beers and bbq cevape. The team of Kosor and Bele took first place in the inaugural OC Croat bocce ball tournament after coming back from a 7-1 deficit with 11 unanswered points to defeat Dean and Vicko 11-7. Jurica’s team finished last.
A brief b-ball competition took place between South OC’s Kosor, Barbic, and Dragojevic vs. North OC’s Balta, Vranjes and Zoretic. Once again, Jure’s team lost.
Moral of the story ….. Jure is a loser!
All kidding aside, it was a great afternoon and we can all look forward to doing it again after the Spring season. Obviously I’m not very reliable to capture the moments even with a camera available, as these are the only shots I took. But trust me, the wives and kids were there too.
